The Forest Fair

The Forest Fair and the ABFC Mission

What does sustainability look like? Good question. Much of our work at the Alaska Boreal Forest Council is propelled by that very notion. How might we take an intangible idea and make it three dimensional, even interactive?

The Forest Fair is one attempt to do just that. We encourage diverse members of our forest community to come together at one venue and share the past year's experiences working with and within our boreal forest ecosystem.

There are few occasions when professional scientists, elementary school children, graduate students, local business owners, non-profit organizations, government agencies, artists and educators can gather together to appreciate and connect with one another. The Forest Fair is one of those unique instances.

The Core of the Forest Fair Forest

Fair Mission: To recognize our boreal forest ecosystem and applaud the people who live and work in the forest. To provide an opportunity for individuals and organizations within our community to share their work with one another, view the milestones and progress of the past year and raise awareness of upcoming sustainability venues.

The Essence of ABFC Beliefs: To sustain the growing partnerships with our land and each other by investing the time, resources and energy necessary to make the Forest Fair an annual event fostered by our community. At our annual event participants and community members can experience different perspectives on sustainability.
